The Writer's Edge has consistently used some key evaluation check points to provide publishers with an accurate and swift summary of a potential book.
Writers should realize that publishers initially sift all book proposals on a few, very few, criteria: the "category" or target audience of the book, the credentials of the author, the competing titles in the marketplace, and the timeliness of the book. Our Book Information Form isolates these elements and includes a request for some sample chapters of your writing.
Quality alone, however defined, will usually not meet our publishers' test. The commercial potential of a book, ease of marketing, and uniqueness will all figure in their judgment . . . and ours.
